Alice In Chains: So, I just found out they are about to release a new album. Them being one of my favorite bands (and pretty much the only grunge band) of all time, I probably should have known. Call my ignorant, but my assumption probably had something to do with the fact that their very distinct lead singer Layne Staley passed away in the early 2000's. Regardless, here they are about to release a new album and probably tour too (which I bet they've already been doing). Their new singer actually fits the bill pretty well, although it just isn't the same without Staley. While I didn't fall in love with this single "Check My Brain" upon initial listens, I also don't hate it. In fact, I think its safe to say that I kind of like it. It is catchy, and it is just nice to have AIC back in the game. ...Even if they've already been back for a while without my knowledge. My bad.Check yo brain sucka
Megadeth: So on the flipside (well not really, just a different subject altogether), Megadeth is about to release their new album Endgame at some point in September. I'm a huge fan of early Megadeth, but to be honest I haven't given their newer stuff as much as a listen. I've always been satisfied with Killing is My Business, Peace Sells, Rust In Peace, and So Far...So Good...So What!. However, I gave this new single "Headcrusher" a listen and figured it was worth posting for whoever is interesting. Nothing super special here, but its nice and thrashy with some pretty cool guitar leads. Plus for some strange reason I actually really like Dave Mustaine's voice. Give it a listen and let me know what you think. Hopefully the new album is good.
