Black Keys-Brothers (2010)

Every once in a while I'm introduced to a band that has somehow slipped through the cracks throughout the years. The Black Keys for me right now is that band. It all started when my little brother send me this video for their sing "Tighten Up"...awesome video. I'd heard of these guys for a while, but for some reason just assumed they were some indie bullshit band that I had no interest in. I love it when my assumptions are wrong.

I think got one of their earlier albums Thickfreakness, and their new album Brothers. This my friends is some very awesome (and catchy) contemporary blues rock. I'm not really sure who to compare them to, which in my opinion is just a testament to the unique nature of the band. Give it a listen, if you have functioning ears you'll probably dig it.

Newish State Radio-Let It Go (2009)

Many of you are already with Chad Urmston's jam-reggae State Radio, the best most famous post-Dispatch project, so I'll keep this short.

Their album prior to this Year of the Crow was pretty good, but in my opinion not nearly as good as Us Against the Crown. Well...this album Let It Go is. Not a bad song on the whole record. Through and through it is aurally pleasing, which is of course exactly what you hope something you choose to listen to will be.
