One of my buddies Tahl introduced this album to me yesterday. Since receiving it I have probably listened to it over half a dozen times, and the plays aren't stopping any time soon.
I never thought I would ever try to label this as a genre, but please bear with me...Fang Island has managed master an odd fusion that for now I will label progressive indie jam rock.
Doesn't really make a tremendous amount of sense from reading, but who cares. Listen to this album and maybe you'll see what I mean. The whole album flows beautifully from song to song, the musicianship is gifted and original, and every song is fun to listen to from start to finish. Thank you Fang Island for incorporating the sweep arpeggio and soaring guitar solos in a style of music that I could easily see myself (and hope to see myself) hearing on the radio.
This album wasn't cranked out for some money hungry corporate record label. It was clearly crafted for the love of the music and a desire to transcend the cookie cutter stereotypes and convoluted expectations that plague much of music industry today.
I implore you, download this album and enjoy it. I hope these guys keep on keeping on, because I want to hear more from them. But for now, this album will certainly suffice.
