I'm pretty sure this band is quickly gaining popularity, and you might already know about them. But I don't really read Pitchfork, and my popular media radar is nearly always off...because frankly, I don't really give much of a shit what the hipsters tell me to listen to. Unless of course the hipsters are my friends, which will tend to happen when you live in LA.
Regardless, I wanted to share this album today because the more I listen to it, the more I want them to have more fans. By conventional definitions of the genre, I would have to classify Local Natives as
indie--but akin to the genre
metal, that is super fucking broad and not very helpful to anyone interested in a specific gauge of a bands sound.
The bottom line is that this is a beautiful record built upon talented musicianship and original songwriting, that forge its own refreshingly honest sound. Each song is catchy and will suck you in, yet integrity is maintained throughout. Some songs might lift you up, others may make you stop and think--but all will make you glad you pressed play.
Just give it a listen, don't skip any songs, and enjoy.
Also, on a side note, props to the drummer, his rhythms really complete the sound.
Update:
Well, I got a notice saying that I can't have the link here, if you got the album yesterday, way to move fast. If not, buy the record, its awesome.
