...But it will never be time to pass the torch, as Tenacious D claims comedically. The fact of the matter is, no matter how you slice it, that Ronnie James Dio is the man that has rocked forever. As far as my knowledge goes (which is by no means perfect) Dio got his start in an old school bluesy classic rock group that barely anyone knows called Elf, who's album I actually just recently got and is pretty rad. He then moved on to front Ritchie Blackmore's (Guitarist from Deep Purple) Rainbow and brought you the classic "Man On The Silver Mountain" among others. After that he fronted Black Sabbath for a few albums after Ozzy left (actually really cool albums, just really different). However, he found his true peak and power with his solo career under the aptly-named Dio. Plus he invented the rock-on headbangers symbol (you know \m/ <--that one). There isn't a whole lot this short elf-like man with one of the most powerful voices on the planet hasn't done.I could go on for a while about how many albums of his I have, how many are good, how fucking rad he is in concert (seen him around 3 times live), and how much you need to listen to his music...but not only do I have to continue studying, but you can probably the jist of it anyways.
His most famous album is without question "Holy Diver," and for a damn good reason, if you don't have it, go out and buy it. However, this album "Last In Line" is one of my person favorites. The title track is easily one of my favorite heavy metal songs of all time.
