To be honest, I don't really know much about this artist, probably because I just found out about him yesterday. But, I do know that I downloaded this album Notes From Elsewhere...and that I really like it. I'm not sure what his other stuff is like, but this album is Peter Mulvey stripped down to just his voice and an acoustic guitar. In my opinion, this is the true definition of raw talent. If you can sound good without guitars distorted and modified by various effects and swallowed by heavy percussion, than you can sound good in any context. When you are just playing acoustic guitar every note is clearly audible and no mistakes can be hidden. It is just so natural, and in my opinion so respectable. And by these standards, this guy is really fucking talented; just listen to some of these acoustic passages (not to mention his singing while playing these).
Anyways here is the album, give it a listen--it is really chill and easy on the ears, I think you might like it.
