The Hellacopters-By The Grace of God (2002)

This post is a prime example of a band who I have known existed for a very long time, but for some reason never listened to until recently. I was introduced by Metal Bastard, who writes a terrific blog that I definitely recommend reading. He has more to say about the band than I do, so instead of me regurgitating him, you should just go read it first hand. One thing I will note, is that they are from Sweden, so all you bigoted Norcal haters can sack up and get over the fact that their name is "hella" cool.

This is all I have by them (for now), but given how solid the album is and the random tidbits I've read---I'm sure their other releases rock as well.

Nothing super complicated to be found here, just some good old fashioned accessible and fun rock. There isn't a song on the record that I feel the need to skip, which is always a refreshing.

  1. ha HELLAcopters, never thought of it like that. you know their first album won a grammy in Sveden? "Supershitty to the Max". this band is ok, i prefer Entombed (singer/guitarist was the drummer on "Left Hand Path" and "Wolverine Blues")

  2. didn't know that, I've heard of that album though. I'm going to give it a listen.

Have you heard this one? It has a nice classic rock feel, not as garage-y as I've heard their other stuff is.

Entombed couldn't be more of a different band.
